Now on O2 Broadband - initial speed? 5Mb. Oh yes. (After two years of 2.2, it’s flying…)

Just got an email from a friend asking what’s going on in the UK and attaching a weblink to something particularly stupid being done by one of our local councils. I responded with:
“You get to ask that question when you can guarantee that Sarah Palin will never hold executive office…”
He responded with…
“She already does, as the highly successful governor of our largest state.”
Oh, now what should I write in reply...?

Heh heh heh

Feh! Largest in land mass only, by population Alaska clocks in at #48.

And successful by what standards? Shooting things from a helicopter? Cronyism? Running her administration with all efforts bent on keeping her abuses of power secret? Blurring the separation of Church and State?

There's more to successfully holding office than smiling for the camera and spouting home-spun platitudes. Your friend really needs to be more specific before you can answer back.

I think something along the lines of:
Oh come on, you’re surely not actually defending her?

I can quite understand why the McCain camp kept her away from interviews – her appearance with Couric was embarrassing, and all she needs to do to come out in front in tonight’s debate is not to drool on the floor; they don’t need to encourage low expectations – she’s confirmed them by her behaviour and vocal utterances since she was picked.
